Response to Class Lecture- Recordings
This lecture has to be one of my favorites, especially since it is something that I do everyday! I always love to listen to music anywhere I go, whether I'm on the bus or at home doing homework. To be honest, I have not thought of music as a force of cultural change, but once Mr. Miller told us, it made sense to me since song lyrics from a certain time really do reflect the social issues that were going on at the time. Also, as I have learned in my other classes, people in the past told each other stories through songs (like country music) and taught language (I sing my alphabet song all the time). It is very easy to take for granted at how easily we can buy songs online or at the store, but that wasn't always the case. The timeline about the phonograph, gramophone, and electric microphone really made me appreciate how easy it is to get music and portable it is for us.
